Tipping Point
I'm convinced that there is a tipping point that is rapidly approaching where the Scales of Marketing will shift to where digital is more heavily weighted than traditional and social is becoming the heaviest metal on the scale. For those of us who have spent our entire careers in traditional media and marketing there is no choice. Re-invent, re-learn, re-think and re-lead or be re-membered (better than be dis-membered I suppose).

The Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria
What do these three vessels have in common with the state of social media and the vast ocean between the "Old World" and the "New World"?
There are many parallels to "Old Media" and "New Social Media". Think about the fear, lack of knowledge, the promise of untold riches, the many travels who attempted the journey before and were never heard from again.....victims of monsters or even falling off the ends of the earth.
Who and what type of visionary leader could convince a major institution to go forward? What type of vehicles would they need to brave the journey? What would be the return on their investment? What were the risks if they decided to do nothing?
Think about it....more to come

Me-Dia Con
Translated this means My Daily Conversation. It's really my daily conversation about all things media, particularly as it relates to what I am experiencing daily in the biz.
Dia means "day" in Spanish so I hope I don't offend my Latino friends by combining English and Spanish to create a play on words that sounds like "Media", is spelled with the same letters, and serves to explain with this blog is all about.... my daily conversation which is also a media conversation!
Tomorrow, should be a very interesting day. Heading to a Media Matchmaker Mixer in New York City organized by the New York State Empire Development Corporation. Will update you on my thoughts, impressions, etc after the conference......
